Community Guidelines
Last updated: April 12, 2026
Crews is a place to do real work alongside real people. These guidelines exist to keep sessions productive, welcoming, and safe for everyone. By using Crews, you agree to follow them.
1. Respect the room
When you join a session, you're joining other people's workspace. Treat it like you would a shared studio or library.
- Keep disruptions minimal. Avoid loud background noise, playing audio through your mic, or having side conversations that derail the room's focus.
- Follow the session structure. If the host has set a format (check-in, focus blocks, breaks, debrief), participate in good faith. The structure is what makes sessions work.
- Respect verbal and silent roles. If you're in a verbal seat, be mindful of airtime. If you're in a silent seat, embrace the quiet. Both are valuable.
- Camera and mic are your choice. Nobody is required to be on camera or unmuted. Don't pressure others to turn theirs on.
2. Be a good crewmate
Crews is a community, not just a tool. The people in your sessions and crews are colleagues.
- Be encouraging. Celebrate wins, acknowledge blockers, and support people working through hard problems. A simple reaction or message goes a long way.
- Be genuine. Use your real name and photo. Don't impersonate others or misrepresent who you are.
- Be inclusive. People of all backgrounds, industries, skill levels, and working styles use Crews. Make space for everyone.
- Give honest debriefs. Session debriefs help hosts improve and help us build a better product. Be thoughtful with your feedback.
3. Keep it safe
Zero tolerance for behavior that makes people feel unsafe.
- No harassment. This includes unwanted messages, sexual content, slurs, threats, bullying, doxxing, or any behavior intended to intimidate or demean another person.
- No hate speech. Discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, nationality, or any other identity has no place here.
- No explicit or violent content. Keep your video feed, profile, and messages appropriate for a professional environment.
- No recording without consent. Do not record, screenshot, or capture other people's audio, video, or screen content without their explicit permission.
- No stalking or unwanted contact. If someone declines a connection or doesn't respond, respect that. The follow and connection features are opt-in for a reason.
4. Chat and community posts
Session chat and community posts are shared spaces. Keep them useful and kind.
- Stay on topic. Session chat should support the session. Save longer conversations for your crew or DMs.
- No spam or self-promotion. Don't use sessions, chat, or community posts to advertise products, services, or opportunities unless it's genuinely relevant and welcomed by the room.
- No unsolicited advice. Unless someone asks for feedback on their work, don't critique what they're doing. Everyone's focused on their own thing.
- Use reactions generously. They're a lightweight way to acknowledge someone without disrupting the flow.
5. Hosting responsibly
Hosts set the tone for a session. If you host, you're taking on a responsibility.
- Show up. If you schedule a session, be there. People plan their day around your room.
- Set clear expectations. Use the session title, vibe, and energy labels to communicate what the room is about.
- Moderate when needed. If someone is being disruptive or violating guidelines, address it. You have the tools to manage your room.
- Be welcoming to newcomers. Not everyone knows how Crews works on their first session. A quick welcome during check-in makes a big difference.
6. Crews and groups
Crews are small communities within the platform. Whether you're running one or joining one:
- Crew owners set the culture. Each crew can have its own norms, but all crews must follow these community guidelines.
- Invite responsibly. Only invite people who genuinely want to be part of the group. Don't mass-distribute invite links.
- Respect crew boundaries. If a crew is invite-only, don't try to circumvent that. If you're removed from a crew, don't create alt accounts to rejoin.
7. Privacy and boundaries
- Respect privacy settings. If someone has their profile set to private or their tasks set to title-only, don't pressure them to share more.
- Don't share others' information. What you see in sessions — someone's goals, their work, their face — stays in the session unless they say otherwise.
- Open Door means available, not obligated. If someone sets their status to available, it's an invitation to join, not a demand for attention.
8. What happens when guidelines are broken
We take violations seriously and handle them based on severity and context:
- First offense (minor): A warning and a conversation about what happened.
- Repeated or moderate violations: Temporary suspension from sessions and/or community features.
- Severe violations: Immediate account suspension or permanent ban. This includes any form of harassment, hate speech, threats, or sharing explicit content.
If you experience or witness a violation, please report it to hello@withcrews.com. All reports are reviewed and kept confidential.
The short version
Show up, do your work, be kind to the people around you, and don't do anything you wouldn't do in a shared office. If everyone does that, Crews stays a great place to get things done.
